N'NINKIE is a platform by the organization PfefferminzGreen. It supports local changemakers across Sub-Saharan Africa, especially in Sierra Leone, in solving problems within their own communities.

We built its website at INSYNC, pro bono. Here is what it's about and what came out of it.

What N'NINKIE is about

N'NINKIE flips the usual view of development aid. Instead of carrying solutions into Africa from the outside, the platform makes visible the people who are already driving change on the ground.

At its center: local voices, collaboration with communities and experts, and solutions that come from within Africa. The homepage puts it in one line: A Future for Africa.

N'NINKIE's three pillars

  • Community-Driven Change: change starts with local changemakers, not with concepts from the outside.
  • Practice-Based Research: lived knowledge from communities is recognized as an equal foundation.
  • Evidence-to-Policy Engagement: communities, research and policy shape decisions as equals.

What we built

The site runs on Wix Studio, so the N'NINKIE team can maintain it themselves after launch. On board: projects, team, a donation flow, blog and gallery.

The look mattered. N'NINKIE wanted to move away from the typical development-NGO feel toward a colorful, distinctive visual language. Working closely with N'NINKIE's designers, we carried the brand through the whole site.

The team behind it: Najeeb, Marc and Robert.

Why we work pro bono

Once or twice a year we take on a project without an invoice. For organizations that move things and need a web presence that keeps up.

N'NINKIE was exactly that kind of case. Good cause, real mission, strong visuals.
