Case studiesRecht 24/7

Online law firm with its own checkout and legal AI.

Since 2003, Recht 24/7 has been an online law firm from Munich that sells company formations, trademarks, contracts and legal advice at a fixed price directly through its website.

The starting point

Recht 24/7 sells legal services like products: form a UG, register a trademark, have a contract reviewed, get an initial consultation from a lawyer. Over 60,000 clients have trusted the firm, and on Trusted Shops it holds 4.89 out of 5 from 677 reviews. Revenue runs through the website's checkout.

Technically, all of this depended on WordPress with WooCommerce and a long chain of plugins. After purchase, the client fills out a form about their case, which generates an email to the responsible team of lawyers. An existing automation at the firm builds on these emails, for example to generate formation documents. It could not break during the move.

On top of that came a new product for companies: Rechtsabteilung 24/7 (Legal Department 24/7), a subscription with legal services and a legal AI. Until then, the AI ran as a standalone application on a separate platform.

Legal solutions for every need

Concept and design

Intent before product

People who come to the site have a concern, not a product in mind. So the home page first asks what it is about: ask a lawyer, start a company, review or draft a contract, protect a trademark. Behind this are four worlds with their own overview pages and a mega menu that shows all services with a short description.

The home page explains in three steps how it works: choose a service, fill in the details, a lawyer takes over. And it clearly states what sets Recht 24/7 apart from referral platforms: lawyers on staff, a fixed price up front, a response within 24 hours.

One template for all services

All service pages run on a shared template with hero, scope of services, process, comparison, FAQ and related services. 37 pages are live, from UG formation and trademark registration to unfair dismissal claims.

Instead of stock graphics, the boxes show custom, subtly animated assets built right into the code: twelve building blocks such as process, document, trademark, deadline or comparison. Which asset appears depends on the words in each block, and its labels come from the page content. Anyone who has reduced motion sees everything without animation.

Tested mobile first

For the mobile version, we measured 75 pages at seven screen widths, including checkout, account and AI app. On small screens, the hero image now sits as a band above the text. At 390 pixels wide, this brought the number of hero texts below WCAG contrast from 225 down to zero. The desktop version stayed largely as it was.

Fixed-price services

Checkout and backend

A checkout in the site's own design

The checkout has four steps: Your details, Payment, Case details, Done. Payment is embedded directly in the page with Stripe, with no redirect and no break in style. Stripe Tax calculates VAT for all countries, including reverse charge for businesses. Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal are supported too.

Prices on the service pages come from Stripe. If the firm changes a price there, it shows up on the site a few minutes later.

The old automation keeps running

We carried over the case detail forms from all 115 forms on the old site and rebuilt them from a single component. The emails to the lawyer teams are generated character for character in the old format, with collision-free order numbers. That way the firm's automation keeps running without anything having to be changed on its end.

Services without their own page can be ordered too: 236 follow-up and add-on products have their own checkout link. Old links from partner systems automatically redirect to the new checkout.

What's behind the checkout

  • Customer account via sign-in link, with orders, invoices, credit notes and subscriptions
  • Two-factor sign-in for the firm's accounts
  • internal order overview with search, filters, address correction and refunds with automatic credit notes
  • Payment link tool that lets lawyers request custom amounts
  • Customer emails the firm edits itself, with test sending
  • Reminders after 24 and 72 hours when case details are missing
  • Vouchers and partner codes in Stripe, newsletter with double opt-in
  • Subscriptions with plan changes in the account: upgrades immediately, downgrades at the end of the period
  • Email alert when a payment, a webhook or an email send fails
It's that simple

The legal AI

An AI app in the customer account

The legal AI for business customers used to run as a separate application alongside the website. We brought it directly into the new platform. Customers work in their account in a chat like the one you know from ChatGPT: model selection at the input field, templates for typical tasks like initial consultations or contracts, file attachments as PDF, Word or text, live-streamed answers and a searchable history.

The models run via Azure AI Foundry in the firm's own account, with the standard models in the EU data zone. The firm maintains the prompts itself in an internal area, with versions, test runs and usage analytics.

Case law research with verification

Searching for court decisions runs through a dedicated workflow. The AI extracts the legal questions from the facts of the case, and the user confirms or changes them. Then a separate agent researches each legal question on the web in parallel.

Every link found is checked on the server: the page must be reachable, and the case number must appear on it. Decisions without a reliable source are filtered out and shown in a separate list. That way no made-up ruling ever reaches the user.

Credits instead of requests

Billing runs through a custom credit system. Every action has a fixed rate, from a simple question and answer to a full case law search. Every Rechtsabteilung 24/7 plan includes a monthly allowance, and additional credits can be bought directly in the account. Before the allowance runs out, the account shows a notice.

Moving the legacy platform

Previous conversations were not to be lost. We connected the old database read-only, matched users to their accounts and ran everything on a copy of the database first. A second run creates no duplicates.

We carried over all existing accounts and conversations from the old AI platform. Old histories do not count against any allowance, and no user received an email because of the move.

A law firm, not a referral service

Content and two languages

625 articles and an English website

All 625 blog articles from the old site have moved, with images and metadata. The English version is a complete second website under /en with English URLs, not just translated text. We carried over 624 English articles from the previous translation and corrected 114 of them.

Checkout, case detail forms, customer emails, account and AI app are bilingual too. Each order remembers its language, and all emails and reminders follow it.

Automatic language, search engines untouched

  • First-time visitors get their browser's language, and if none is set, the country decides
  • The switcher remembers the choice
  • Crawlers are never redirected
  • hreflang on every page, sitemap with both languages, old English blog URLs redirect to the new ones

The result

On October 14, 2026, we switched the domain to the new platform. Since then, www.recht24-7.de runs with 1,369 URLs in two languages, its own checkout, customer account and legal AI. The old WordPress site stays reachable on a subdomain for the transition, without indexing.

The service pages carry structured data for FAQ, offer and breadcrumbs, and the platform runs with security headers such as HSTS. A scaffold of plugins has become a platform the firm controls itself where it matters: prices in Stripe, emails and prompts in its own internal area.
